About the Sanriku Fireworks Festival
Scheduled for the spring of 2025, the 2025 Sanriku Fireworks Festival (Click here for the official website) finally marks its momentous 10th opening!
First held to commemorate the ten years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Sanriku Fireworks Festival was born from the love and passion that local volunteers around the region held for their hometown. This love takes the shape of approximately 15,000 fireworks lighting up the night sky over the town newly rebuilt after the disaster. Concentrated at the festival’s central venue, people from all over town look up towards the sky and enjoy the spectacular display together. Held twice a year in the spring and autumn, the spring event focuses on entertaining guests with synchronized fireworks and music, creating an unforgettable show at night.

The decision to cancel the event will be made by the Sanriku Fireworks Festival Executive Committee. In case of cancellation, guests may be notified at the meeting location on the day of the event, in addition to other methods of contact. Please ensure that a reachable mobile number is provided at the time of booking. Unless explicitly contacted, the event is assumed to proceed according to schedule. The event may be canceled or postponed in the case of severe weather. Please note that if the event is canceled on the day, there will be no refund of travel fees and no alternative sightseeing activities will be provided.
